Pare-Chocs, Coming in the Fall 2015

Black Salt Press will be releasing Pare-Chocs this fall, an original work by musician, producer and artist Bruno Green. First published in France in 1998 (see cover detail above), this will be the first time Pare-Chocs has ever been translated and published in English. The book will also be getting a new cover design. Finalist, FAPA President’s Book Awards

It was just announced that A Secret History of the Ollie, Vol. 1: The 1970s by  Black Salt Press author Craig B. Snyder is a Finalist for a FAPA President’s Book Award. Award dinner takes place on August 8, 2015 at 7:30pm at Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Walt Disney World Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

On NPR: A Secret History of the Ollie

Black Salt Press author Craig B. Snyder and his book A Secret History of the Ollie, Vol.1: The 1970s (2015) will be featured on National Public Radio this month The piece was produced by WBUR in Boston and will air on “Only A Game” on the weekend of May 30-31.

A Secret History of the Ollie, Vol. 1, The 1970s by Black Salt Press author Craig B. Snyder has won top honors at the 58th Annual New England Book Show. Sponsored by Bookbuilders of Boston, the awards dinner took place on the evening of May 5, 2015 at Boston Symphony Hall. Mr. Snyder, along with editor Gary Lee Miller and designers Matt Kanaracus and Karen LeDuc, were on hand to accept the award. Congratulations!

Rachael Pongetti at the Pensacola Museum of Art

Photographer and Black Salt Press book author Rachael Pongetti is exhibiting her some of amazing images from the Pensacola Graffiti Bridge Project for the next couple months at the Pensacola Museum of Art.

Between the Layers

Between the Layers explores local artist Rachael Pongetti’s imagery from the iconic 17th Avenue train trestle, or Graffiti Bridge as many locals refer to it.  This exhibition, in partnership with First City Arts Center (FCAC), highlights the ever-changing image of this Pensacola landmark. In addition to the exhibition there will be multiple events at both the PMA and FCAC including live graffiti demonstrations, artist-led gallery talks, and more. Pongetti is an MFA photography graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design and former instructor at Pensacola State College and the University of West Florida.

Philadelphia Science Festival, May 2

Black Salt Press and Craig B. Snyder, author of A Secret History of the Olliewill be at the Philadelphia Science Festival on Saturday, May 2. Look for us at the Action Science booth, in front of the Philadelphia Science Museum. Snyder will be signing copies of A Secret History of the Ollie throughout the day, along with appearances by some of the skateboarding legends featured in the book. On display will be a range of vintage skateboards, and there will be skateboarding demonstrations in front of the Philadelphia Science Museum, featuring former pro skater Bill Robertson, aka “Dr. Skateboard,” and The Philadelphia Collective.
